Inverted Bucket Traps

Inverted Bucket Traps have had a long history with steam equipment as one of the earliest developments in steam engineering. By utilizing a simple yet efficient lever system that responds to changes in pressure inside the bucket, a valve is opened, allowing the pressure to be vented safely without affecting the separation of condensate and steam.

While the basic design has remained the same, many innovations have been made to improve the overally function and durability of the trap. Here are some of the key advantages of utilizing an inverted bucket trap system for your setup:

1) Flexibility and Security – Inverted bucket traps are a good choice based on the flexibility they provide many clients. As a group, it is easy to find a trap that is appropriately sized for almost any situation and are one of the most economical solutions for low to medium range pressure systems. Since they have minimal moving parts outside of the valve lever assembly and the bucket itself, the risk of clogging or sticking is not immediately present. This also makes it easy to inspect should a replacement be necessary.

2) Resistance to water hammer – Because of their design and construction, the opening at the bottom of the trap helps minimize the effects of water hammer on the product. Modern inverted bucket traps are reinforced at key areas to help increase their service life drastically.

3) Minimal Dirt Accumulation – Since the valve is located at the top of the trap and fluid is coursed through from the bottom of the bucket, there is very minimal danger of dirt damaging integral components of the trap.
